CRITTER CARE
WE PROVIDE HIGH-QUALITY HEALTHY CRITTERS. WE WANT TO PREPARE YOU TO CONTINUE THEIR CARE AND DIET ONCE YOU BRING THEM HOME. THESE ARE THE STEPS WE RECOMMEND YOU TAKE TO HAVE THEM AS HEALTHY AS THEY CAN BE FOR YOUR PETS.
MOST OF OUR SPECIES COULD BECOME INVASIVE IN THE WILD. IF YOU NEED TO DISPOSE OF ANY, PLACE THEM IN A ZIPLOCK BAG AND PUT THEM IN THE FREEZER FOR 48 HOURS THEN DISPOSE OF THEM IN THE GARBAGE.
CRICKETS
TEMPERATURE: Keep them at room temperature (21 to 23 degrees celsius), you may notice that during the winter months, they are a little bit slower when you get them home. They will become more active once they warm up.
CONTAINER: A well-ventilated container is necessary. use wire mesh and not plastic mesh as they can chew through it. A slick container with no texture is recommended to prevent climbing up the sides. the container should be about 1.5 feet tall to prevent them from jumping out. Keep part of an egg carton or a paper roll in the container so they have something to climb on without crushing each other.
FOOD: A wet paper towel in one corner is good for hydration, and our cricket pellets, rolled oats, and fresh fruits and veggies.
CARE: Every 2 days, clean out any waste, this includes any sheds, dead ones as well as waste created, and provide fresh fruits and veggies. Disinfect the container with rubbing alcohol.
WAXWORMS
TEMPERATURE: A cool environment is recommended, however, a refrigerator is too cold. (12 to 15 degrees will keep them in this life stage the longest)
CONTAINER: Keep in the container provided.
FOOD: Waxworms do not eat
DAILY: Ensure all worms are alive. They will turn black if dead.
SPRINGTAILS
TEMPERATURE: Room temperature is suitable and will encourage growth (19 to 26 degrees Celsius for optimal reproduction).
CONTAINER: Keep in a smooth-sided container, and keep a sealed lid on at all times. Refill with bottled water as needed.
FOOD: We choose to use nutritional yeast. We sprinkle the yeast onto the activated charcoal.
EARTHWORMS
TEMPERATURE: Kepp in the refrigerator door.
CONTAINER: Keep in the container provided with the lid on at all times.
FOOD: Everything your earth worms need is provided in their container. Just feed them to your animals as needed.
SUPERWORMS
TEMPERATURE: Keep them at room temperature. (21 to 27 degrees celsius)
CONTAINER: Keep in a tall container minimum of 5 inches with smooth sides. Keep the lid off to prevent mould.
FOOD: They should be kept in rolled oats. Provide fresh root veggies, including carrots, sweet potatoes, turnip, and spaghetti squash.
DAILY: Remove any old food and provide fresh. if you have had the worms for a while you can sift them with a fine sieve to remove any waste they have made. If there is not enough food they will eat each other, and remove any dead ones.
MEALWORMS
TEMPERATURE: Room temperature is suitable and will encourage growth (25 to 27 degrees celsius for optimal growth). If you wish to stop them from growing you can keep them in the refrigerator (7 to 10 degrees celsius) to cause them to hibernate.
CONTAINER: Keep in a smooth-sided container, without a lid mould may form if kept with a lid on.
FOOD: Keep in a large amount of oats, and provide fresh root veggies, including carrots, sweet potatoes, turnip, and spaghetti squash as needed.
DAILY: Remove any rotting veggies, you can run the oats through a sieve to remove any waste as needed.
Large meal worms may turn into pupas, but they are still safe for your pet to eat, this is the next life stage of a mealworm.
ISOPODS
TEMPERATURE: Room temperature is suitable (20 to 22 degrees Celsius is optimal).
CONTAINER: Keep in the container provided with the lid on at all times.
FOOD: We always provide leaf litter and supplement with repashy bug burger.
DAILY: Mist as needed to retain humidity.
HORNWORMS
TEMPERATURE: Keep them at room temperature. (27 degrees celsius for maximum growth)
CONTAINER: A container at least 3 inches tall that is smooth plastic to prevent any climbing out. no lid is needed.
FOOD: Use the food we provided when purchased. You can purchase more if needed.
DAILY: Remove any waste and replace any dried food we recommend Repashy Superhorn.
SILKWORMS
TEMPERATURE: Keep them at room temperature (20 to 28 degrees celsius is recommended).
CONTAINER: A container at least 3 inches tall that is smooth plastic to prevent any climbing out. No lid is needed
FOOD: Use the food we provided when purchased. You can purchase more if needed.
DAILY: Remove any poop and replace any dried food. Remove any that may have passed away.
FRUIT FLIES
TEMPERATURE: keep at 18 to 24 degrees celsius for optimal reproduction
CONTAINER: Keep in the container provided with the lid on at all times.
FOOD: Everything your fruit flies need is provided in their container. Just feed them to your animals as needed.
DISCOID ROACHES
Let's be honest, they are roaches. you would have to try and kill them.
We use carrots for moisture and nutrition Ensure they have some moisture but watch for mould. The mould will be what can easily kill them. And a mix of high-protein dog food, cricket food, bran, and oats.
make sure they have air holes and a secure lid.
BLACK SOLIDER FLY LARVAE
TEMPERATURE: Keep them at room temperature. (25 to 30 degrees celsius for optimal growth)
CONTAINER: Keep in the container provided with the lid on.
FOOD: Provide fresh root veggies, including carrots, sweet potatoes, turnip, and spaghetti squash as needed.
